my-memoirs | MEMORY FROM 2008

For My Childhood Friend. Wherever You Are.

LOCATION: My Room , Philippines

YEAR: 2008

TAGS: lean on me, childhood friend

PUBLISHED: April 23, 2008

For some reason, a coincidence probably, that I found this after I posted the memory "My Childhood Friend". I think I wrote this a month after my friend left. I just wanted to share it, because there is this need in me to get it out of my system.

"How can you say no to someone that the very thought of rejection could send them spiraling down to a very emotional abyss. But how far would you go for a loved one? Sometimes we think that we are helping in anyway we can, but unknowingly adds to the problem. There are a lot of situation that calls for a very objective decision, but because we are clouded by our love for that person, we end up making the wrong ones."

"It is not wrong to love someone so much, but sometimes we have to think about the consequences of our actions. I would be a hypocrite to say that it is easy to do, because lets face it, it is hard. How can you turn down a person who always asks for money? We could just say that it's just a small amount, what harm can it do? But in the process, we unknowingly give an impression that a little crying here and there would get them what they wanted. Is that love, to give or to take when you should not? To play the pity game, to play with people's emotion to have your own way, or even to just take what you want."

"Sometimes we just give what they want just so we could avoid lengthy discussions or arguments. But is that right? Are we supposed to just give in knowing that we shouldn't? You have to seriously think about what the future will bring to someone you love if you just lay it out for them. Honestly, do you really think your helping them? What if you're gone, how would they deal with their own problems, if for the longest time you took that responsibility? You're not helping them and you're partly to blame, because if you took the time to let them know how they should deal with their own problems, maybe they would learn."

I still remember her every time I hear the song Lean On Me. It saddens me in a way because we used to sing that song when we were so young.

It is a good thing that some people agree, I was having a hard time after it all went down, but I believe that I'm okay now, and I hope that she is too... thanks for dropping by =) (4/23/2008)

Yeah... I believe I have... But sometimes it feels that it was not enough because she is still where she is, and I'm afraid that she will be staying in that sorry life for the rest of her life, and that... is what really saddens me... thanks for always dropping by =) (4/24/2008)
