On Regret

Another tear jerker from the Bollywood stable, 'Tera Bina Zindagi Se' tells what happens when two lovers meet after decades. The feelings still linger, still strong.

The movie that the song comes from 'Aandhi' (Tempest or Storm) is the story of a successful Indian woman politician whose marriage to a conservative, traditional man crumbles because of her career.  Filmed in the 70s, the film was supposedly based on the life of Indira Gandhi, India's first woman Prime Minister.

The song is sheer poetry (Maestro Gulzar, again). It's a song about regret, love and acknowledging the importance of a soulmate.

'I may not need you, but life isn't Life without you' - the translation doesn't do justice to the poetry, but you get an idea.
