About The Artist
Reeves' smooth, velvety voice is easy on the ears, as are the 'Nashville Sound' instrumental tracks behind it, but Jim Reeves was pure country....

But you love me daddyLOCATION: Home, Mumbai, IndiaYEAR: 1992TAGS: Father, Radio, ChildhoodPUBLISHED: February 14, 2008My father loved Jim Reeves. In the days of cassettes, we played him over and over. Hundreds of songs - I know them all. Jim Reeves was a man for all seasons. His Christmas songs were our favorites. I like to think of them as a family tradition. With my dad gone suddenly, dying unexpectedly one afternoon at 46, we needed every bit of tradition we had. So Jim Reeves played on. As did Englebert and the others. 'But you love me, daddy' is a funny song. It's a duet between a father and a daughter and it kept us in splits. 'Your five year old face is a dirty disgrace / But you love me, daddy...' You get the idea. When daddy was around, we sang the duets. We listened to the song played on the radio and laughed along with it. The song faded away until one anniversary. And there it was, on the radio, all those years later. Creepy, but it brought back so many memories we had forgotten. Perhaps Daddy was missing the music, too.
