I miss my quality time with Dad

LOCATION: Parents Living Room , Campobello, SC

YEAR: 2008

TAGS: dad, teenage angst, family relationships

PUBLISHED: July 25, 2008

My parents moved to South Carolina from Connecticut in December 2007. In November I had moved out of the house in preparation for this.

Back in the day when I was like 4, me and my dad were inseparable, I was the typical Daddy's girl....then I don't know what happened. When I turned about 9, we stopped getting along all that great.

Just before I moved out, it seemed like about the only time we got along was when we were riding in the car together. [Hence where we get memories like "Dad, you're white. Stop" from]

I went to go see my parents back in June this year. It was amazing because for an entire week, my dad and I didn't fight once [of course the second week, well that was an entirely different story, we know exactly what pisses the other off, and we both intentionally do it.]

The Sunday before I left we were both laying on the couch watching "Ice Road Truckers" on the History Channel, and we were actually getting along again. "Livin' On The Edge" is the theme song of this particular show.

This morning it came over iTunes and I bawled my eyes out remembering that moment of peace and wishing I could magically transport myself the 850 miles to their doorstep and give him a hug.
