The Existential Pleasures of SkinnydippingLOCATION: Water , Planet EarthYEAR: 2006TAGS: Sex, Beach, Friends, R.E.M.PUBLISHED: January 6, 2008I saw the "On this Day" feature on the JamsBio Homepage that Michael Stipe's birthday is today, January 4th. It reminded me of the many memories I have associated with one of R.E.M.'s songs. It can't be easily pinned to a single year since it spans my entire life. So the best I can do is say 2006 because it was the last time I went skinny dipping.

Some musicians, perhaps with an air of false modesty don't like to be labelled as poets, but i think it applies here to this lyrical poem. Furthermore, apparently the lyrics were fleshed out before the tune which adds weight to this comparison. (9/7/2008)
