Both Arms Wide OpenLOCATION: Hotel, ChicagoYEAR: 2003TAGS: Creed, Family, Fatherhood, MarriagePUBLISHED: December 7, 2007Yes, yes, I know, this is a sappy song, but sometimes it can still hit you...well, at least it hit me. My second son was born in the Spring of 2003. Number two was a big adjustment for my wife and me. We were exhausted, so we treated ourselves and the boys to a long weekend at the W Hotel. We just wanted a couple of days where someone else cooked and cleaned. We didn't leave the room for three days. I remember Creed's video "With Arms Wide Open" playing on the TV. It may be corny, but I really connected with the song right then. Whether it's a good song or not, it reminds me of how I felt at this time. I was wiped out and plain scared of being the Father of two. But I was also overwhelmed by how much love I felt for my little guys. Now that I have three kids, I laugh and just remember how nice it was with all of us sleeping in the same bed and the promise of Spring blowing in from Lake Michigan.

hmd1987 said: As much as I hate Creed now, I did like them when I was in middle school and I did like this song. I'll admit it, there. My Uncle loved this song (a father of two when the song came out as well). It makes me sad now b/c my cousin passed away and I can remember being in a hotel with them when we were younger and my Uncle would listen to this song repeatedly. Dads will always love this song and I'm sure I'll dig it up should I ever have kids ha. (6/30/2008)
