Lifeguard Singing

I never thought of being a lifeguard as a boring job. I was a lifeguard the summer after my sophomore year of high school mostly because of a cute guy that worked as my manager. We actually got to be pretty good friends that summer. Every time it was my turn to go sit in the head guard stand I would get nervous that someone would fall in and I wouldn't be able to pull them out. That only happened once that summer, and it wasn't during my watch. I would sit in the lifeguard stand and sing songs to myself to keep from falling asleep. A comfortable chair and warm sun shining on your body add up to a very sleepy lifeguard. I don't remember what else I sang, but one song I know I sang every day was, "Two Beds and a Coffee Machine," by Savage Garden. I would sit in my chair and sing, "Another ditch in the road, you keep moving. Another stop sign, you keep moving," over and over again. I could never remember the lyrics to the actual verses, but that never stopped me from singing the chorus lines over and over again. It was just one of those songs that I could easily remember and stuck inside my head. I still can't remember the lyrics but could tell you every line of the chorus.
