Playful Professional | MEMORY FROM 2005 Don ImpressesLOCATION: My Apartment , Provo, UTYEAR: 2005TAGS: volleyball, college, junior yearPUBLISHED: April 25, 2008Every night after volleyball Hayley and I always tried to convince people to come over and hang out with us. It normally didn't work because it was already 10 or 10:30, and everyone had to wake up for school or work the next morning. One night it did work though, and we convinced Don to come over and hang out with us. He was pretty excited to find that we had a piano in our place and immediately sat down to play. He started out soft and slow then started to play some more fast and loud tunes. Hayley and I were both impressed and just sat in awe since neither of us knew that he even played the piano. The last song that he played for us was "Tribute" by Jon Schmidt (he'd already played some Jon Schmidt earlier), and it was incredible. I'd never heard the song before but loved watching him go from one side of the piano to the other as he sped through this incredible number. He gave me the music to the song a couple of weeks later, but I've never been able to play it fast. My version is a more numbed down slow version because I can't play it fast. Other than Jon Schmidt himself, that was the best version of this song I have ever heard.
