You Only Live TwiceLOCATION: My Old House , Eldred, PAYEAR: 2007TAGS: hope, love, faber drive, commitmentPUBLISHED: March 19, 2008Okay, I know. They're young. They're a little emo. They're a little angsty. But not to the point of "Pay attention, I'm slashing my wrists today." Faber can actually SING. Something a lot of the 'emo' bands (and I would include Good Charlotte and Sum41 and Blink 182 in there) just don't have the handle on. This song is really good, has a good musical and lyrical quality, and is definitely going to be a favorite of many high school Canadian girls in 2008. However, I digress. I love this song because it says just what I was needing to say when my signifigant other and myself were living 3 states apart for months and couldn't be together. The pain in my chest and the longing to be close to him were almost unbearable. We had to keep holding on, sticking it out, making things work, no matter what it took. And getting myself to remember that I needed to make every second count when I was with him became vital to the survival of our relationship. And it has survived so far. Actually, he has asked me to marry him. I don't attribute the song to our pairing, but I do think it sums it up quite well and keeps me remembering what we fought for, every time I listen to it. See, even angsty, emo-ish teens, produced by Chad Kroeger, can turn out some good music for old people like myself.
