Pretty Strung Out for a GirlLOCATION: Car , EldredTAGS: Christiane F., Butch Walker, David BowiePUBLISHED: April 29, 2008I was not all that impressed after "Letters" was released by Butch. It took awhile to grow on me, as LOSC was instantly imbedded in my brain. But it's now one of my favorite CDs. This one, Butch threw us for a loop again and changed up things completely. I seem to recall him saying something about his last CD being the bummed out guy music and this one being the guy who is so happy he's dancing on the tables. Bam. Nailed it. "Bethamphetamine" is a great song in it's own right, but if you see the video, you'll be even more impressed. The gals in the 'Let's Go Out Tonites' get their groove on like Wendy and Lisa from The Revolution (complete w/ the hat) and the band rocks. However, a little tidbit you may not know... The video is a takeoff on the Christiane F. movie (from the book of the same name) and it features Avril LaVigne. No, an Avril fan, I am not. But she did a great job in the video, thank heaven she didn't have to sing... They got the video perfect, right down to the tattoo on her hand, her perils w/ Atze and Detlef, and her subsequent drug abuse. It ends with her running after her bus, plastic bag in hand, even wearing the same coat. The best part is when Avril looks up at Butch like Christiane looked up at David Bowie in the movie when he's singing "It's Too Late". You can seriously feel a strange connection between them. So, here's to "The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker" and his tribute to Bowie and "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust". "Bethamphetamine" by him and the "Let's Go Out Tonites" is one not miss.
