Before I Even Understood...LOCATION: School , Bradford, PAYEAR: 1982TAGS: Joan Jett, Tommy James, gay, lesbianPUBLISHED: February 15, 2008This song was originally done by Tommy James and the Shondells, and remade by others such as Velvet Underground, etc.  But Joan. Baby, she covered this song like a blanket. There is no other woman I can think of that could have pulled it off. It is so woman-friendly and so, 'Joan', that I just love to listen to it. Even back then, before I knew, before I even understood what the heck she was talking about, before it was 'cool' or 'safe' to be out, she was singing 'I think I can love her'. Joan doesn't care what anyone thinks about her and she proves it with every CD she releases. However, her rendition of 'Crimson and Clover' will always be one of my favorites of her's as well as a great memory that I enjoy to this day.
