And this is one of them. The first time I heard this tune was on 3rd March 2007 at the Mardi Gras parade in Sydney. Due to my inability to turn up anywhere remotely close to time, I was late to meet my mates in the pub and they had left to join the throng on the pavement readying themselves for the parade. By the time I got anywhere near Oxford Street, the crowds were so huge, it was looking like it would be a real mission to find my friends in the crowd. One of the girls was leaving the next day, to spend a few months in London, so I had to find them, didn't I? Time was marching on and the parade soon would too.  But could I be arsed to wade through the masses so as to find my pals? And I was dying for a piss. It's difficult to know what to do in that situation - you're in trouble with your friends if you sack them off, but urine trouble with yourself if you don't. Ultimately, the prospect of standing with my legs crossed for the next couple of hours was too much to bear, so I abandoned any hope of finding my friends, made a telephone apology and then found a thirsty looking tree. It didn't matter a jot being on my own. I soon made new drinking friends, got chatted up by lots of gay men, three straight women and even had my photo taken with a stunning lesbian couple. (Unfortunately, I have never seen the snap). First came the dykes on bikes. And somewhere down the line, one of the floats was playing this song and the dancers were going crazy. One of the dancer's particular moves and shapes left his indelible mark. Every time I heard this tune subsequently, be it in a pub, club, shopping centre, doctor's waiting room, it brought a huge smile to my face, as I recalled the freestyling leotarded wonder. My friends (we had since been reunited) laughed at the fact I enjoyed this song so much. But I didn't know who the song was by. Someone told me it was Kylie, which made me love her even more than I already did, and when I discovered it wasn't by Kylie, I still loved her and I still loved this song. I recently unpacked a box of goodies and found a DVD containing pictures from Sydney. On the disc label, my friend had written a note which simply read, "Maybe I..." And it made me laugh again. I knew the rest.
