I resisted for a long time the temptation to include a Beatles track on this site. Maybe I just felt that they would get enough internet hits as it is, to go with all their chart hits, so they didn't really need any further endorsement from me. Then I realised that was a crass argument - I have promoted songs by bands like Queen and The Rolling Stones, who probably don't need any extra PR from me.

Like so many people, I have made the pilgrimage to Abbey Road studios. And like so many people, I have been disappointed to discover you can't go inside because they don't offer tours. This is a great shame because visiting Sun studios and pretending to sing into a mic used by Elvis Presley (allegedly), is a very fond memory.

So instead, all you can do is walk across the zebra crossing, attempting in vain to stop the traffic so you can get the perfect album sleeve shot. Once you've been up and down the zebra crossing a few times, you can scribble some nonsense on the wall outside the recording studio.

Now I am all for fans showing their appreciation for their musical idols, but some of the text on that wall was nauseating. Does it really have to be so sycophantic? And why is there absolutely no mention of any other artist that has recorded here?

Ultimately, the whole exercise is fruitless one, as the wall is not very high, so your brown-nosing comments get wiped over with a fresh coat of white paint very quickly, anyway. If you insist on being such a creep, then far better to use this site and leave your crawling messages for all to see forever...
