Shhh...I'm a New Kids fan

I had to be crazy.  I couldn't think of any other reason for my wanting to take my six-year-old sister to see New Kids on the Block.  Except for the fact that I was a secret New Kids fan myself.

Here I was a 19-year-old grown woman among all these teeny-boppers, and some not so teeny but merely babies, like my sister.  I felt kind of strange.  Then I reminded myself that the New Kids were my age and I did like their music.  I looked around the crowd hoping there was nobody there I knew.

My sister was wearing her favorite New Kids shirt--a pink one depicting their cartoon character images and sang "Step By Step" while waiting for the show to begin. 

Soon the arena darkened and Joey, Donnie, Danny, Jordan and Jon took the stage performing "Hangin' Tough".  I got more and more into the show as it continued.  In fact, I was so into it, I hadn't noticed my sister sacked out in her seat!  Here we were at a noisy New Kids on the Block concert, I was having a great time and she was snoozing.  Then again, wasn't I there more for myself than for her?

Before we left the Centrum I managed to pick up my own New Kids T-shirt, one that had more mature images of the guys and read "Step By Step" on the front.

As we got in the car, my sister turned to me and asked, "Did I miss the show?"

I just smiled at her and started the car.
