Meghan | MEMORY FROM 1988 Why I Love MusicLOCATION: My Ears , LivermoreYEAR: 1988TAGS: Drift AwayPUBLISHED: April 28, 2008I have always, for as long as I can remember, had a deep love for music. My very earliest memories, when played back in my head, always have a running soundtrack playing in the background. Sometimes it's a specific song, or just a certain artist in general, or even just a certain genre, but there is always music. Whenever something really good or really bad happens in my life, I automatically begin seeking out "the song". The song that relates to the feelings and helps me embrace them, or the song that makes me forget about feelings, basically the song that just fits the situation. The first time I heard Drift Away I must have been in the 6th grade. It was on some compilation tape I had, and from the first moment I heard Dobie asking for the beat so that he can Drift Away, I knew that this was a song written about me. Me and my love for music in general. I couldn't begin to count the number of times that I have lived this song. Then again, if you've read my JamsBio, you could probably get an idea. I'm sure that I've survived every hard time I've ever faced because of music. Every good time and joyous moment has been made better by a song. My soul has truly been made free by the music that has weaved in and out of my entire life. It always will. Whenever that world outside looks unkind I still count on the music to see me through. There are a million reasons why i love music, but when I get down to very heart of it, Drift Away describes the true reason. This is why I love music. And when my mind is free Makin' me strong
