Why I Hate Ethan Hawke

 Let's just clarify right off the bat that, I do like Ethan Hawke. Reality Bites & Dead Poet's Society are two of my favorite movies of all time. As an actor he's good. For sure. As a good taste in music? Not so much. Oh yes, he's considered to responsible for launching the career of Lisa Loeb. I guess I shouldn't judge her as an artist simply because I hated the song Stay sooooooo much. I just so deeply despised (still do) it that I was never able to give anything else she did a chance.

Infact you could say that I poo pooed the entire Lilith fair scene because of how much I hated this song. It would be years before I would be willing to give artists like Sarah MacLachlan a chance. Just because I related her to Lisa Loeb. To this day I equate the opening strings to the song with nails being driven into my head. It was everywhere, this song. I hated the video too. The stupid cat? Yea, Ethan Hawke's cat.

I've never been able to dig down and figure out why this song pains me so. I only know that it does. It pains me a lot. Though I suppose Miss Lisa Loeb herself could be blamed, it's truly Ethan Hawke with his "coolness" that brought this horrible musical tragedy into my life.

There are very few songs I hate with so much passion, but this one rises above the rest.
