My Song

LOCATION: Someone's Car , Livermore

It was common knowledge among my close friends that every other song on the radio was "my song". It became a running joke, and I'd always have to give some explanation of why I related to that particular song. They would always reply that a person cannot "have" that many songs. I guess it was funny, though I sometimes took offense. It's not my fault that I was touched by so many songs.

I was and still am a huge Skynyrd fan, and one time while cruising down the freeway, Call Me The Breeze came on the radio. Now, in all honesty I had no intention of saying that it was my song when I asked my friend to turn it up. I simply like the song and wanted to hear it better. My friends began to taunt me, "What is this? Another song that's your song?" Ha ha.

Then something truly funny happened. One of my friends listened for a moment, smiled, and then said, "Actually, this does kind of sound like you". My other friends listened and all agreed that THIS was my song. When the chorus came back around they changed it from "The Breeze" to "The Meg". Forever and ever after that, that was how we all sang it whenever it would come on the radio.

I still have a million songs (as most of you can see), but this is the only one that was officially designated by my girlfriends to be, My Song.

my-memoirs said: It is true that we sometimes relate to too many songs, it is how we are able to express our feelings, it is not bad to have "too" many "my songs" it is just an indication that we have lots of life events that are associated with a lot of songs... stay tuned =) (3/6/2008)
