A Single Sparkly Glove

I owned Thriller, and I still do. Yes that's right. In a box in my garage is that original vinyl album that I used to listen to on my fisher price record player. Choosing a favorite memory off this album was pretty easy. I loved Billie Jean. I think it was because seeing MJ Moonwalk that first time while performing Billie Jean was truly my first big pop culture moment. It was amazing to me. I even had a Michael Jackson doll, complete with sparkly glove and all. The single glove was in my opinion the coolest thing of all.

My uncle was a Ringmaster for Ringling Bros. Circus and sent us each a big box of jewels. OK, so they weren't real jewels, but the gorgeous rhinestones that were used to decorate the fancy costumes they wore in the circus. One day my mom, deciding to feed my one glove obsession, took an old easter glove of mine and sewed a whole bunch of those rhinestones on it. I thought it was beyond cool.

So what did I do with my single sparkly glove? Well I would put it on in my room, set the needle to Billie Jean, and sing my little heart out to an audience of stuffed animals. An audience that was always truly kind to me. It's hard not to think of being that little sparkly gloved girl, singing Billie Jean, and trying my damnedest to figure out how to Moonwalk. Something, I never could master. 

I don't know what ever happened to that glove, but I still have a bunch of those rhinestones left. They're in a box in my hope chest. Everytime I take a walk down memory lane and go through the items in my hope chest, I always take an extra minute when opening the box full of jewels. I still get a twinkle in my eye when I see all that sparkle, just like I did when I saw Michael's single sparkly glove.
