Magic movie

I did not catch the movie when it was first out, other than seeing a poster for it outside the cinema and thinking that if Gene Kelly was in it, it might be worth watching. I started to watch it on TV a year or two later, but once again, I did not watch the entire movie. I found the start dull and preferred Gene's older movies. Eventually, a decade or so after the release, I watched the entire Xanadu movie. It was not until another five years down the track that I began to get interested, purchased the album, and got to know the music. The reason being that I had heard The Tubes were in the movie, and this definitely scored a hit to my curiosity.

Not finding the Tubes' song on the album was disappointing, but I found a lot of music that I did like anyway. I eventually caught the movie on TV again, paying more attention to the Tubes than the entire movie! When talking to friends, it seems that hardly anyone liked Xanadu. I thought the music was great, the storyline entertaining, and the fact that it contained both The Tubes and Gene Kelly amazing! People just did not like it, though. I was told that even the performers themselves were unimpressed with the result.

It was not until the 2000's that I came across anyone else willing to admit that they liked the movie and thought the music as magic as the song title from one of ithe songs! I was interviewing some musicians for a book that I was writing and one happened to mention their interest! Finally, someone else that approved of the movie!
