The Game Called Hide And Seek

Every adult who has had a childhood worth mentioning has played the most common game, a game which as the name implies involves hiding and seeking. Hide and Sick like denim jeans will always rule. When I was about  five I spent my free time out in the neighbourhood playing with my friends. Most of our activity revolved around this classic game. We never spent a week without playing Hide and Seek. After preschool and over the weekends my friends and I would meet at a central point, underneath a Baobab tree.

We would then lose ourselves in play. What put the icing on the cake is that the neighbourhood rich in greenery was all ours. The vegetation  and scenery complemented our childlike nature. We could hide anyway up a tree, by the swing, in  the garden or underside a car. For most of the day the neighbourhood was ours until the parentals got back from work. Now those who have played the game long and hard enough know the general rule governing the game- Counting. Before one seeks they must count probably up to about twenty.

The normal kids who could play the game well knew how to break the most fundamental rule through cheating. I never counted up to twenty. ‘Ready or not here I come you can’t hide’  just remembered me of this award deserving game. I think a new law should be passed that  all kids have to play hide and seek. Is anyone ever ready to be caught?, I suppose not that is what makes this such a praiseworthy game.
