It was always customary for my sisters and I to go shopping during the first few days of the new year. Mom and dad will give us the track, provide the required fuel and as usual leave the eldest liable for the safety of the car and our general well-being as well. The year 2000 was rather unique.

We wanted to celebrate it in style. Instead of buying clothes as was always the case we opted for beauty therapy and then lunch later on. Off we sat on a Saturday morning to the nearest hair saloon which was located at a shopping mall. In addition to getting our hair done in the trendiest of styles, we had our nails and feet done too. After  all this, there was still some time to kill before lunch. As a result, we explored the mall like tourists, enthusiastically and determined not to miss a spot.

We eventually find ourselves in Spinalong which happens to be a leading music store. The money left over from the saloon was more than enough for lunch, so we were all keen on getting an extra something. After battling for almost an hour, we finally decided to get Don’t Speak- No Doubt.

We then set four our two course lunch not very far off from a tranquil fountain. For close to two hours we talked and appreciated the beauty of the scenario. We then got back home just before the sun set and curiously waited for the first track to play. ‘Yeah it’s all’, ‘not too bad’, were some of the sentiments in between the first and thirteenth track.

At last we found something we all enjoyed deeply- ‘End it on this’. We always sing it together towards the beginning of every year. The song makes me realize that although we are all very very different, my sisters and I do share some common likes and similarities.
