My First CrushLOCATION: Junior School , HarareYEAR: 1998TAGS: Blushing, Crush, Fidgety, Brunette, PlumpPUBLISHED: April 3, 2008Although this song was released and became popular when I was in junior school, I have my own memories associated with it. This is a song I dedicated to Brian my first crush, when I was in seventh grade. He was everything I looked for in a guy- smart, witty, humble, charming. Funny thing is I avoided him at all costs. Whenever I was around Brian ,I would find myself blushing and getting all fidgety. Worse thing is I could not figure out what he was thinking and feeling, whether he felt something for me too. At one point we set together in class, side by side. I must have made such a fool of myself, as I tried to hide what I felt for him. In the end it became obvious that I had a crush on him. My eyes would grew softer around him, I even faked an accent and apparently changed the way I walked. Well in due course my feelings for him died, but I had obssessed with Toni's 'You're Making Me High' in between. I met Brian the other day and he asked me jokingly if I ever had a crush on me back in junior school. ‘Oh well what does it matter- those were the days’, I said. ‘Did you have a crush on me’, I asked in return?. ‘Of course not, why on earth?’, he said trying to run away from the subject. To this day we have remained good friends and surprisingly, looks like he is currently with Johanna, the plump brunette everyone picked on during primary school. As for me what matters most is that I have Tim who is everything I want in a man and more.
