Mom and Dad Now This One is For You!!

When I was too young to understand the meaning of romantic love, I let my parent’s anniversaries pass me by. As I matured, I began to realize the importance of such occasions. After receiving my first Valentine rose, I decided to reciprocate the pleasant, heartfelt surprise.

Though not aimed directly at my crush, I decided to treat my parents on their anniversary which was not very far off from the 14th of February. It was not until my parents had been together for twenty-years that I decided to pamper them with a anniversary gift.

Dinner and all delicious treats aside, there is something about my family and their love for music. You can go wrong elsewhere but never when it comes to music. What should I really get them?, I wondered. I knew they were into all sorts of artists; Elton Johns, Dobbie Gray, Bee Gees, Beatles the list is endless. ‘How can I get all these vast compilations, my savings can only buy three albums at the very most’, I pondered?.

Just then the most sensible idea ran through my mind. It only made sense for me to compile a mp3 cd with most of their old time favourite songs. I was expecting them to jump in excitement at the sound of UB 40’s ‘Homely Girl’ or ‘I’ll be’ sang by Jackson Five.

They instead completely loved ‘Fantasy’ produced by Earth, Wind and Fire. I was astonished upon realizing that they remembered all the lyrics word for word. This song reminds me of how they have managed to grow old together and inspires me to do likewise one day when I meet Mr. Right.
