I have always admired Evelyn one of my friends. Since junior school we have been pal’s. The both of us have seen it all from learning the letters of the alphabet to sitting for our final examinations, from riding our first bikes to driving our first car. She has always been the optimistic one of all my friends, able to bounce back from life’s pitfalls in the twinkling of an eye. Evelyn has confided in me about all her relationships.

She started dating since the age of sixteen and we have both come to the concrete  conclusion that most youthful relationships are fragile and can end abruptly. She had been going out with Richard a guy she met through love happens, an online dating service. The both of them were head over hills since the beginning of last year.

Their love was talk of the town and we all swore that there were to tie the knot. Before the year came to an end something heartbreaking emerged. Lucy, one of our friends suggested that she prepare him something unique and she should stop over on New Years Eve. We all helped her prepare for the day. She was to make chicken ricotta and Victoria sandwich cake as dessert. The meal was wrapped up warmly in love.

Evelyn went to Richards house and upon opening the door and saw him making out with the girl next door. By the time she got back we all knew what had transpired as Richard had called and pleaded for us to talk to her. We were expecting to find her in tears but Evelyn came stronger than ever and  grabbed a cd, pomped up the volume and played Gloria’s ‘I will survive’.
