He Just Had To Cheat

‘No one is worth your tears and the one who is will never make you cry’. What a earnest saying. It had always been in my subconscious mind but I never took time to deliberate on what it strictly means until Richard came along. I have been in relationships of a romantic genre far too long and I know what I want in a mate. Of all the dire traits, I will not tolerate a cheating partner. I can deal with a partner who lies to me occasionally or one who even has a gambling addiction but a cheat is not someone I will easily condone.  After my foremost dating experience I came up with a non-negotiable policy, ‘Once a guy cheats its over’.

No need to brag but I tried to be the perfect girlfriend to this guy Richard. Richard could not have wanted more in a buddy. He struck me as above suspicion, after all I met him at Church and we were in the same youth group. Of all the nerves he had to cheat on me with one of my ‘guardian angels’, at church. How awful. I was hurt, crushed it had been such a humiliating period for me more so as our six month relationship had been known by everyone. We had problems as is expected in all relationships but instead of resolving the matter amicably he opted for the easy way out.

We all have to face our fears no matter how daunting they may seem to be. After he cheated, I was an emotional wreck. It is not until it has happend to you that you realise how deep the wound can sink. But time heals all wounds and I knew I wanted to become Stronger and grow from the experience. Although it took forever at least I can know confidently join Britney Spears in singing ‘Stronger’. That is what I am after all right?.
