Why did I have to grow up, why can’t kids remain kids forever?. If I had one wish, I would want to be young again  Occasionally, I do relive my past by going down memory lane. Everything was so different when I was younger. The world seemed so naïve, my parents sheltered me from all the injustice, violence and poverty. I had no idea that there were some people too impoverished to appreciate the fresh air, too miserable to spare a few minutes to get a glimpse of the birds flying by.

My friends and I took a natural liking to nature. We loved the sun more than anything although there were times when the heat became too hot to bear. Of the four seasons summer time left the most room for play.  How we hated the cold season as most of our time would be spent indoors. Fortunately, the greater part of the year was spent basking in warm weather. My friends and I would be overjoyed to the point of running up and down screaming in the neighbourhood when eventually we came out to play.

When Bob Marley released the track ‘Sun is Shining’ years later the song took me back to my youthful days. Damn those were the days!. Good thing is I have remained in touch with my friends from the good all days and when we are feeling up to it, we have been known to relive our past especially when the sun is shinning!.
