The Best of friends must part true that, but what makes it harder is knowing that you will never find anyone like your associate. During my Form Two Year, Mrs Smet was not only our Maths and Form teacher- in all essence she was our friend. We all loved her and for the first time all sixty of us actually looked forward to Maths. She was a lovely woman-cheerful, patient, kind, zealous.

Then like a sudden bomb it was announced that Mrs Smet was to retire. We were to have another Maths teacher. The whole class was on the verge of sobbing. How could Mrs Smet go for good?. From the moment she walked in no-one liked her. Mrs Lobster was a grumpy middle aged woman with a stern looking face. She never smiled, even after we cracked a couple of jokes from our classical collection. Mrs Lobster was the meanest teacher we ever had!. To top it all she was short-tempered.

No-one dared interrupt or irritate her in any way during the Math lesson. We shared a private joke however. Whenever someone was picked on or ‘attacked’ during the one hour Tuesday, Thursday and Friday lessons. The class would start singing ‘someone please call 911’. This was our way of laughing it off. Mrs Lobster eventually came to know of our song. She was left fuming, red as a chilli pepper but fortunately for our sake the year had ended. Those in her class picked a lesson that was the last of any ‘Lobster’ jokes no matter how private.
