If it is one movie I could watch over and over again it is ‘Sounds of Music’. It is my all time favourite. One thing I liked about the Sounds of Music is that the movie happens to be rich in soft music, hence the title I presume. I have always wanted to echo the lyrics to the song. In 2001 I volunteered to join the school house choir team.

Singing competitions from the five houses were held every year at the end of the first term. Our house had lost three times in a row. This time it was no longer about wanting we had to win!. But to do so we needed  a killer song. In our first pratices, the house captains were open to suggestions for that ideal song.

I contemplated on giving the song I had in mind a try. I thus made an appointment with one of the captains and put forward my suggestion ‘Sound of Music’ for the competitions. When the deadline for taking in suggestions passed it was time to vote for the best song. All the songs which numbered more than fifty were listed on the main blackboard and when the team met during break.

It turned out that the ‘Sound of Music’ had the largest number of votes by far. It was different, intriguing- the kind of resuscitation the house needed. The day of the competition our house came first. Everyone had been expecting us to lose. I guess we had been underestimated as usual. What made it even more exceptional is that it is I who come up with the idea.
