Baby Welcome!

My aunt had her first baby earlier on in the year. She was blessed with a baby girl- Nicole. Two years ago she had undergone a caesarean operation and we were all relieved that Nicky bore no complications. Aunt Vivian was hospitalised for two days after being in labour for twelve hours. We all knew she had to rest and partying was the last thing on her mind but at the same time we wanted to express our joy on her new bundle of joy!.

A small lunch was prepared and around 12.00 p.m. my uncle Jim with a few other relatives went to get her from the hospital. It was not long before they arrived back. When the car got into the driveway, he could not even park properly. The entire crew had made their way to the garage anxious to hold the baby. Aunt Vivian was deeply touched and for those few minutes she gathered the needed strength for the function.

Before lunch a small prayer was made. As is always the norm, music was played but this time it was of a soft, soothing nature. The last track made me realise how lucky and blessed I am to be part of such a supportive family. ‘We are family’, was the theme of the lunch and everyone no doubt got the message across. We could even spot little Nicky smiling gently, innocently in her sleep. What more could she have wanted than to be part of such a cheerful, caring clan.
