Baby Comes Home!

I come from a family of five children. My younger sister and  I are two years apart, when my mom went into labour I was clueless as to what was going on. I only hear what happened through the grapevine and of course through album pictures. But with my other sister there is a wider gap of seven years. Fourteen years ago she came into this world at 3,5kg and I have vivid memories of what transpired then.

 

My father came home from work a little earlier than usual and he announce that my mother was in hospital, she had given birth to a healthy baby girl whose name was yet to be decided. Hurray another girl! That made five of us. Seeing my mother in bed hospitalised with her angel made me warm up to her in a new way the following day. The little one was adorable- much lighter than all of us with lots of curly hair. Though I could not help but feel a little jealous prior to her birth particularly at a baby welcome party.

 

If the baby is getting all this attention before birth, what more afterwards I thought?. My sisters and I decided to prepare something for our mother the day she got discharged from the hospital. Well it was the eldest’s idea actually and the rest of us followed obediently. So we decorated the house, placed some flowers, a homemade card by my mother’s bedside and a little something extra- ‘Baby Blue’ we sang after picking her up from the hospital with dad.
