What A SightLOCATION: Roller Skating Rink , KamloopsYEAR: 1982TAGS: athletics, roller skating, musicPUBLISHED: March 14, 2008When you are young a roller rink is a great place to work. The people, the music, the excitement are all invigorating. I was an okay skater, nothing spectacular, but there was one employee who was fantastic.
Kal was a slender, short teen but when the song ‘Jump’ by Van Halen came on, he would enthrall the spectators at the rink. He would skate around, picking up speed as he went then when the song said jump, he would. By the end of the song he was jumping higher than he was tall. It was an awesome sight. One I don’t think I’ll ever forget.
