TyposLOCATION: A Club , CalgaryYEAR: 1991TAGS: humor, apology, insanity, record execsPUBLISHED: March 14, 2008When I was producing the weekly newsletter ‘Rock Raff’, I tried to be meticulous in my work. I would check and recheck facts for articles but sometimes mistakes get made.
I had reviewed the first release by ‘Big House’ and was going to review the band’s performance. I met up with the musicians and everything was going fine until one member pointed out to me that his initials were K.B. not K.J. I was embarrassed. I had tried to be so careful but a simple slip of the keys and I mistyped.
All through the show the error nagged at me a little. No one seemed really upset but I was annoyed with myself. After Big House had finished, K.B. had gone up to his room for a moment and was reentering the club through a back entrance. I rushed over, dropped to my knees, clasped my hands in front of me and said,
“Oh please sir! Can you forgive me for the outrageous typographical error I made?” K.B. looked startled, as did the other band members and the few record company execs that were there. But K.B. recovered quickly. He reached out a hand and placed it on top of my head.
“Arise my child,” he said “You are forgiven.” I stood up and went back to my table, amid the laughter of anyone who had been close to us. No one said I was sane.
