The Power of First LoveLOCATION: Boyfriend's house , KamloopsYEAR: 1982TAGS: RUSH, first love, electrician, bass, amplifier, bandsPUBLISHED: March 4, 2008Our first loves have a lot of power. Mine was in 1982 and even though I haven’t seen him in years; even though the last thing I heard he was married and probably has children by now; some memories of him are still vivid. And he does have a special place in my heart.  This guy was in college when I was in high school. He played bass guitar and had dreams of becoming a successful musician. However he was smart and was learning a trade in college so he would have something to fall back on. Electrician I think. (Okay, so my memory isn’t faultless.)  We would get together and go over to his house where he lived with his family. He would pull out his guitar and turn on the ‘2112’ album by Rush then sit there and strum along with it. I remember that the bass wasn’t hooked to the amplifier so it was pretty quiet. I would sit behind him on the sofa and watch adoringly. It was young love all right because I don’t think that now I would have the patience to just there.  So many years have gone by and I don’t even know where this guy is now nor would I bother to find out. I hope he has a great life and is happy. He was with a few bands and did the tour thing but I don’t know how much success he had. The last thing I heard he had left the music scene and was working as an electrician.
