NegotiationsLOCATION: My apartment , CalgaryYEAR: 1988TAGS: LPs, Friends, Shaun Cassidy, GarbagePUBLISHED: March 14, 2008I lived in an apartment building in downtown Calgary and there was a little room with a chute for tenants to put their garbage in. In this room people would put things he or she wanted to dispose of. One day I went to take out my garbage and found a bunch of LPs. It took me four or five trips but I got them all back to my apartment.
A good friend came over and was excited by my find. Especially when she saw this LP by Duran Duran. She got her hands on it and told me how much it meant to her, how much she really wanted it. I didn’t say a word.
This friend and I had both been young fans of Shaun Cassidy and she had his complete collection – including the live album, which I didn’t have. Now I had something she wanted but should I start dealing.
My friend was silent then said,
“If I can take this, that live album is yours.” With those words she could have taken most of the LPs in the pile! The funny thing is that after I got the album I maybe listened to it once. But I had it.
