My First Rock N' Roll Experience

I can't remember much of my 3 weeks in Orlando but there are a few moments which stand out. Some were when I went to Discovery Cove (Where I went swimming with Dolphins, Sting Rays and the like), when I rode the Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster (that was when I had an irrational fear of Roller Coasters and that ride helped get rid of that fear) and when we rode the "Rockin Rollin Rollercoaster Featuring Aerosmith".

At the time I had never even heard of Aerosmith (I do now, obviously) so when my dad went "Aerosmith?! We have to go on that!" I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive. And when we walked in the queue and saw the intro movie that we watched before we went on the ride I didn't really think it would be that good (you have to remember I was 12, had clean cut hair and listened to really, really, really bad pop music at the time beacause I was Naive and stupid). All I saw at the time were five men with long hair talking about crap and when I saw the actual ride I just didn't know what to expect.

The Coaches were shaped exactly like Limosines and fitted four people in at a time. so me, my brother, sister and dad went into one and it went into a little bay bit where the actual ride was through a long tunnel. And there was a little neon sign above us that started a countdown. "5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Put the Pedal to the Metal"!!! Then there was an almighty screeeche and we were shot off down the corridor. There was bright light everywhere and you blinded. The doors opened and then you had the most exceptional ride ever! You cruised at top speed. going past Neon Lights shaped like Palm trees that were pink and blue, and motorway signs and all the way through you could hear the music of the incredible Aerosmith with Steven Tylers howl and Joe Perry's bluesy riffs. It was such an adrenaline ride that I was struck with awe. The ride itself was awesome, but what suprised me more was that I liked the music.

Anyway, I got off the ride and after half an hour, we were back on it again just so I could listen to that sweet music again. I actually can't remember what song it was. Probably "Walk this Way" but the ride makes it hard for you to remember. The next day we went into Wal - Mart to buy some shopping for the groceries for the apartment we were staying in at the time, when I saw a certain album. Aersomiths "O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits". I showed my dad and he just said "I suppose I should buy this. It makes sense to". But it wasnt until I was on the plane home I listened to it.I was trying to sleep and put the album in my walkman. And loved it! in particular the first track ("Mama Kin"). What suprised me the most was the really long intro until the singing (Something I wasn't used to). Since then my music tastes have improved dramatically but this was the first time I experienced true Rock N' Roll.
