Senior year H.S.LOCATION: In the car , Sugar LandTAGS: parties, high school, drivingPUBLISHED: March 19, 2008Whenever this song comes on the radio, I am immediately taken back to 1988 driving around in my 1982 Buick Regal (dark blue, vinyl top, tinted windows, Keystone Classic mags...a real disaster of a car) with my two best buddies in high school on the way to a party in early fall. Windows down, radio cranked. We knew. We KNEW. We knew it was going to be a good, no GREAT, night out when this song started our evening. Warm fall Texas air blowing in the car. T-shirts, Levi's 501s, black Justin ropers. Girls in our thoughts, fake ID's in our pockets. Mad Dog 20/20, Miller Genuine Draft. Darkness coming. On the dark desert highway of our minds. Did we check out? Could we ever leave? We had to leave. Had to grow up. But I can go back when the song plays again.
