No more a Rock-n-Roll Virgin

LOCATION: My Boyfriend's House , Eugene, OR

YEAR: 1977

TAGS: rock-n-roll, guitars, boys, bands, singing

PUBLISHED: February 18, 2008

I met this boy who played guitar.  He had long hair, smoked pot, smelled bad, and sang.

He was the first musician I had ever met.  And he was at least 5 years older than me.

He would play his guitar and I was in awe of his ability to create great sounds from this instrument.

One time, while over at his house he played for me this entire record.  Note for note he played the lead guitar parts and sang every single utterance Tom Petty made on each song.

I was stunned.  I was in awe.  I couldn't believe someone I knew could be this cool.

The music was hypnotic.  Like a deaf person who could now hear for the first time, I listened to this music like it was the first time I had even breathed.

When I heard this song, I knew I was sold on rock and roll.  The sheer wall of guitar and vocals that wrapped this song up was nothing like anything I had ever heard.

Not to mention I had this hot boyfriend singing to me the lyrics.

Truth be told, Im now in my 40's and know this man.  Even to this day he plays guitar and sings in his own band in our home town.

 Somethings never grow old.
