I was contently singing along with the song when my father asked me if I knew what the song was about. He had me there. I really had no clue, so he explained to me that words are meaningless until someone finds meaning in them. For a songwriter, a song is just empty words unless someone finds something worthwhile in them. That was the first time in my life that I remember realizing that my father knew something. In fact, he actually knew something about my favorite singer that even I didn't know. Years later I would understand even more what he was saying to me that day. I still skip over this song a lot when I listen to the CD.
