Whoa ! Freedom Feels Good

A much heavier time in music history for me, this was very diverse but I kind of appreciated the lyrics for what they spelled out: freedom !

I was involved with people who rode motorcycles, wore leather, draped bandanas around knees or hips or wore as tops for the ladies, some carried pride like a heavy weight and some just did not give a crap about anything or anyone. So many timeson the back of a cruising bike, I searched for music that could exceedthe so-called shackles this crowd had placed on me. I became something I really wasn't, I conversed with people who got me no further than the front room, it was a closed secular world of attitude, respect and deliberation to keep the 'brotherhood and sisterhood' dignified.

I found it difficultbeing a bad-ass and then trying to prove I am dignified in choosing that behavior, but there is a certain 'collective' encouraged when twenty some odd bikers adopt the same construct. In their playground, just like any other, rules were not meant to be broken. You fight fair and play fair and you keep up with the Jones's or pay the consequences. So I did play fair and gave no lip, so to speak and made close encouraging friendships with some of the ladies. They agreed when men are riding, they own the road, the world and everything in between.

Trying to find comfort in something other than just the wind and warm breezes and beautiful scenery, I had to find an escape. It was difficult because the genre of 'metal' is not always meant for audible messaging to escape to but rather to blow you clear across the auditorium. I was familiar with Iron Maiden, think highly of Run To The Hills and Number of The Beast, because they expand my horizons.

Those horizons were met in those few years of wild'n'crazy living, by breathtaking sunrises, intoxicating sunsets, erotic dawns, majestic mountains and wide fields of grassland on either side of theblack-ribbon we follwed on two wheels. Those were the riding days, those were times when you put your life into the drivers hands and feet and responses to idiot drivers. I was blessed, my riding partners always had my life well-protected, especially on the bike and especially when they knew I could just fly away and never see any of them again. It was a good use of control and a good memory.

Well, on the back of a this guys Harley that happened to be equipped with a radio, this tune came on and with the wind in my hair and no raindrops pelting my face, I was flying like Icarus ! Freedom feels so damn good when you just take life into your own private world and fly with it.
