Enlightenedpsych2 | MEMORY FROM 2008 It Ain't Even Worth its Weight anymoreLOCATION: a recess in my wounded soul , uptown Cleveland, suburbia cityYEAR: 2008TAGS: not worth weight, insignificance, cheaters, infidelity, lyersPUBLISHED: April 24, 2008The small mostly insignificant piece of jewelry that should reprimand when removed rather than remind when worn, that there is nothing right about cheating, lying, or even stealing for the spouse married to or mate involved with--is so what this song brings to mind anytime I hear it anymore. What of a stupid ring, they just take it off and go find something better for awhile, it means nothing to quite a few. Long ago in ancient civilized times when love was cherished more than avenged, this 'band of gold' symbolized greater than acarnal duty and less than a burdonsome reminder to being chained to something less than desirable--a woman had her place unfortunately and usually best found to be under a man. This has not changed much over the centuries; only now it adds excitement to the adulterous acts those that remove the ring, place it in a box while having fun with someone else, and holding little regard for feelings. This perspective of this common practise is down right WRONG ! The performer,Freda, gets it right for her and hopes anyone listening also gets it right for them. But unless someone says something about this 'taken for granted symbol of some union', how it is bashed by god-fearing christians when lust overtakes rational thinking and behaving, it will never be the better part of a good solid marriage again . . . he should know this and feel a second wave of guilt for practising the same ritual as he continues to cheat even as we speak. And friends listen to friends . . . right !
