I Cast A Spell on Thee

She was part French, Creole and southern with a little african-american and maybe even native american mixed in but she had some idea of using feminine wiles to make individuals cringe if she disliked them. Syl (not her real name) was educated in the spiritual nuances of voodoo and ceremonial stuff to keep promises and wishes come true. She believed she had the power to make things happen just by performing some chant on some personal items on people she wanted to do harm or good too, depending on how they treated her or people she loved.

I was intrigued by her discipline knowing what majick was good and which magic was bad, either way she had me get a lock of some guys hair so his present girlfriend would never conceive a child with him. She felt like she was doing me a favor because she believed he had mis-used me and treated me wrong. Her idea was to get even instead of leaving it alone. She did no real harm but decided in favor of the cosmos that this couple would be childless by her doing and asking as long as I gave her, from him, what she needed.

I did, and she performed the ritual and yes the couple never had children, in fact they divorced two years after and she ended up having someone else's children. Now whether or not Syl really had anything to do with this or just that friend was not supposed to be with the guy that told me I was number one, I will never really know. Even if I knew I was not number one, a force this woman felt, sensed otherwise and changed the course of history.

All I can say is if she had the power to do anything then good for her because any power should be used for good things and maybe who she had kids with was the right one. Whenever I hear this song though, I do embrace how cool it is for the collective consciousness to be given a boost by someone who claims she is a witch with powers beyond anything most people would consider, 'normal'. She could never cast a spell on me though as I fend off those types of stirrings and stay grounded in more positive uses of powers such as those . . .
