Enlightenedpsych2 | MEMORY FROM 1980

First year of high school

It was actually a Thursday and the social was tonight because it was some sort of long weekend that would have people coming back in on Tuesday morning and out by Thursday afternoon. So here it is later Thursday evening and me, S.C., G.H., G.B., Logan, and other socialites we did not talk much with stood around gossiping. Yes we all gossipped, we just had diferent dialects in our different cliques. It was rather amusing when I look back on the small talk we engaged in as if it meant all to us. Little did we know that small talk about 'getting away from it all' was going to made true by three of our 'best guys'. Not just 'eavesdroppers you know' but spiteful little dudes that just decided to split !

A road trip is what they now called it and within a few hours these boys were packed with enough food and water and cassettes and magazines and sketch pads and whatever else they needed for a week instead of just roughly under 48 hour get-away. Us girls giggled about how in their haste they will have forgotten gas and enough money to cover getting very far, toilet paper when nature calls, insect repellant when attacked by gnats and mosquitoes--and we know this because leaving at 3pm and still being only around the corner at 4:30 one of us ladies gets a call and we bring the supplies.

Again we wave them off and find this time they are really going to camp out under some stars and be real men. We laugh even more because what do they know about being real men when they treat us so unfairly?

Well, after you hear this song surrounding yourself with these kind of girls that think what do guys know about guys, you might see how truly ignorant it is to say the same gender does not know itself. The monday in the song is the place our three best guys left after having camped up there. Each one felt responsible for each others safety, good time, connecting and were smiling when they returned. They really were 'real men' and us girls stood dumb-founded as we should be when we think a man doesn't know himself ! It might of been a sad welcome if they returned discouraged from just 'getting away from it all', but being happy the gals realized how they read these boys, uh "excuse me, real men", back into their lives. Changed somehow and for the better.
