It had been 21 years since we last spoke to one another, our eyes met or lips crossed each others path. We were glad for one another that life had been fair and kind to us after we departed from an intense relationship upon graduating high school.

My first love, his first love and what made us split was the decision to further our education by attending colleges almost 700 miles from one another. It was a mutual split and no hard feelings but it was still sad. Many years went by and I was always 'in-touch' with my former 'family' and we always knew where the other was and how we were doing, until he called one day out of the blue and I had just finished watching "The Jazz Singer".

It was a remarkable synchronicity. It was a beautiful voice on the other end of the phone. His 'hello' was a great thing to hear. We discovered we were both glad we had taken the journey of 'intimate meanderings' together as young teenagers in love. No regrets. He was nothing but gentle, caring, playful and stern but always loving and looking out for my best interest. We had formed a bond that was beyond physical that carried into years of trusting each other to be there for one another, no matter what.

Whenever he calls, when he is in town or even when he is not so close, his 'hello again' is welcomed with a smile and a warm comfortable feeling throughout the mind, body and spirit. Our friendship is a beautiful flower preserved to flourish annually for eternity ! It is a guaranteed 'first that follows me forever' . . .
