The Piano Recital

It's hard to isolate a single instance of memories associated with this song.  Being a piano player from age 7, it's impossible to count the times I've heard this song.  It's even on my phone as a ring tone these days!

I've played it at recitals, I've heard my students play it, I've heard it played at contests.  Hearing it takes me back to the musty smells of closed up auditoriums, closed church sanctuaries, and little girls in lacy dresses and shiny hair, sitting at an enormous black grand piano, playing this incredibly sweet little piano solo.

I said 1963 for a year - I think that might have been the first time I ever heard this piece.  But it never fails to bring fond memories and great gratitude for all the years of my life.
