In 1999, Nine Inch Nails released the Fragile. I had a NIN patch but had never put it on my bookbag to avoid being ostentatious. M and I were still best of friends at that point. There would be bad days where I would look up at the sky and feel that everything was ok because I had M, my friend and confidant.

This is a memory inside a memory. I told M as soon as I had the new NIN album. We're In This Together? That song blew my mind and how fitting I thought it was for the two of us. And so M responded with a NIN related memory.

He had been a fan of Nine Inch Nails for much longer than I had been. He had gone to a show in Seattle. it was a large arena. The lights were naturally out in most of the audience seats, working on mainly the stage. In spite of that, Trent Reznor took notice of M. Knowing M, I found this pretty funny. Being M, he was standing completely still and unmoving like a soldier who doesn't run into battle. At some point during the concert, he was escorted out of the arena by security with instructions from none other than Trent. I think it's hard to stay a fan at that point.
