Finding My Soul Sister

The happiest moments are the hardest for me to recall because face it, it's all about living and loving it.

I was double majored in the last trimester of senior year. I was writing two research theses, which at that point I had almost zilch done even though I was working on them for pretty much the whole year. Plus I get over-ambitious, manically excited over scholarly works. That would make me a sucker, with issues. I'd say I was a soapy bubble that burst although I held on for damn long given the academic expectations and bad relationships crap; After all of that anyway, who cares? My world was sweet. And the time I had left there, I had my soul sister - big hearted, spontaneous, won't play well with authority. I loved this girl.

Anyone care for Mel Brooks humor? Springtime for Hitler and Germany! I could crawl out the three windows of my hexagonal room to the porch and my couch there. I owned that place. Spring was light-reading, sunbathing, and kicking it all day.

How I met K.T. is another story. I heard of her long before I met her. For the purposes of this memory, I'm just going to say she turned up on my couch and the next morning we were getting my tattoo. With K.T. comes the feeling of invinciblility. We never talk about it. We bearly knew each other. I still think we bearly know each other. I can't explain why wherever we ended up, we knew what was up when we looked at each other. I think we knew each other in the present and that's the way we both live.

Associating Umbrella with the two of us is sin. Umbrella was just the song the guy K.T. knew I was into couldn't get over, the song playing up at Nott when I caught a sunstorm, the song people universally clubbed to. But for the two of us, it was nothing. And she was right too when she said I could do better than that guy.
