And The Award Goes To ...LOCATION: College , New YorkYEAR: 1987TAGS: quirky, young love, JunoPUBLISHED: February 25, 2008I'm glad that No Country For Old Men won Best Picture at the Oscars ... really. Although, I was really hoping the award would go to Juno. I have to admit I was pretty late jumping on the Juno bandwagon, but I'm making up for it by raving about it to anyone who have kids, love movies about ploughing ahead and making the best of a crappy situation. It reminds of a situation back in my college days where my girlfriend came up to me and said "um ... I'm late" and then experiencing the roller coaster of emotions that followed (I will save that for another post, there is a whole playlist attached to that memory). Not only is the story and acting phenomenal but the soundtrack is wonderful. In particular is this little nugget by the Moldy Peaches "Anyone Else But You". I've read a lot reviews criticizing the song for being child-like, with off-kilter vocals and often out of tune guitar work. But I think that is the charm of the song (sort of like how Pete Yorn will occasionally fall out of key). It is in essence a conversation between two young people, when things were a bit more black and white, and the emotions are just put out there.  I think the Edge says it the best "I like songs that just arrives". Here is a clip of the Michael Cera & Ellen Page cover of the song if you haven't heard it. Â
