It's my life..

This song seems to be following me around lately, which is odd, since I love No Doubt but I never usually hear them being played when I'm out and about, on the radio or anything. This is a pretty recent memory, but it is one that is special to me.

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend was acting really strangely. He seemed upset, and he wouldn't tell me what was wrong. I was convinced he was going to break up with me, because when we were talking online he would say, 'I can't tell you on this..' ..I was so worried, and told two of my best friends what was going on. Eventually he said he'd tell me, so we met up and he told me, eventually, that he had told three of his friends that him and me had had sex, when they asked (we haven't). I was actually relieved it wasn't something worse and didn't see it as a big deal at all. That's what guys do.. I was surprised he would even tell me.. nicely surprised, andhe seemed so guilty about doing it.

So, I texted my friends to tell them what it was, and that it was all okay! My boyfriend and I went to get coffee. While we were in the coffee place my friends texted me back. One of them freaked out. She replied, OH MY GOD!!! HOW COULD HE DO THAT! WHAT AN ASSHOLE! DUMP HIMMMM! I was pretty shocked. I wondered if I was being too soft on him. We texted for a while, her telling me what an idiot I was, how he 'had me wrapped around his finger', etc.. meanwhile me and him weren't talking and I was thinking maybe she was right? Because in the past I have let myself be treated like crap by a guy, and I didn't want to do it again. Meanwhile, 'It's My Life' by No Doubt was playing in the background, although I didn't notice the significance until later.I went home, without him and me talking very much more.

As soon as I signed in on MSN, my friend began talking to me. She was actually scaring me. She typed DUMP HIM.I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS GUY. and it got more and more extreme. She got another friend to join in. I tried to reason with her, and told her why I thought it wasn't that bad. She kept going at me, both of them did. I asked another friend what she thought and she had exactly the same viewpoint as me, and told me 'you should always go with your own gut instincts'. In the end I couldn't believe myself for questioning my own feelings because of a crazy girl who wanted to control my life. Things are back to normal now and things are perfect again with my boyfriend. :D I have never felt so good as I did that night for standing up and going completely against my friend, going with my own better judgement.

But now, it's continuing. Everywhere I'm faced with something, say in a shopping centre wondering whether or not to buy some article of unusual clothing, It's My Life starts playing and I think, f-ck it, It IS my life and I'm gonna do everything and anything and live it to the full. The past few weeks things I just keep hearing it all the time. And it's turning into my inspiration song, my summer anthem. :P
