It all just seems like such a waste

I can't believe it didn't come to mind right away to write a memory for Dirty Magic by the Offspring, what with it being my username, and everything!

It seemed like fate the way I found this song. It was late one evening in August after one of those perfect summer days. A couple of out of the ordinary things had happened that day; I found out that Liam*, a boy I had known since I was four years old, really liked me and wanted to go out. But although he was kind of cute, I was pretty much in love with Jake* and one of my best friends, Lisa* really, really liked Liam. She was crying that night in the park under the trees when she found out, and I felt so bad, even though it wasn't my fault. I felt like crying myself as I told her I would never do that to her!

At another stage that night, I was talking to Sarah* in the corner, and we were talking about Jake. I was telling her how I felt about him, when he came and sat down beside us! It made things extremely awkward, and he ended up leaving, saying something like 'I can see I'm not wanted'!

Another memory of that night is of me and him standing beside each other, and our friend Dean* trying to get us to kiss. We laughed it off..

Even later on, I was sitting with a group of close friends, when this guy came into the park with a huge box full of tapes. He was moving house, and let us take what we wanted! It was the best! We dived for them, and I ended up with a NOFX album, two mixed ones with Sonic Youth and Garbage, and eventually, after much begging and swapping with friends, I got the Offspring's Ignition album.

That night two major things happened in my thirteen year-old world;I discovered Dirty Magic, and Jake asked me to go shopping with him the next day. That song.. every lyric was what I felt. I changed my MSN name to lyrics from it, and Jake recognised them- he loved the song too, and he changed his name to lyrics too. I listened to it all night..

The next day, we met at the train station to go into town, and I made nervous conversation with him as we waited for his friend Dale* to show up since he was coming with us. The two of them had me laughing all the way in and it was a pretty fun day. Believe it or not, two years later, it's me and Dale who are boyfriend and girlfriend..

Either way, that was a pretty jumbled up memory without much of a message; but it is one that I don't want to forget. :)
