"I don't want to fall in love"--b ut I did

I'll never forget, nor should I.

She sent a message to me via MySpace. We both had some subtle language in our profiles that we were looking for what is commonly termed friends-with benefits. No strong emotional ties. Just fun.

We talked on the phone most nights for a few weeks and decided it would be fun to meet.

As is proper for a first meeting of that sort, we picked a public place where there would be other people around and no one would feel confined.

I saw her at the bar and said, "Wanda?" Yep, it was her.

I still feel guilty to this day, but they had karaoke going that night. I feel like I paid less attention to her than I did to flipping through the songbook.

We did have conversation. Don't get me wrong.

But apparently what won her over (at least for that night) was me singing 'Wicked Game.' Had my voice that night. Some nights I can't fake the high notes.

The ironic part of this whole thing is the song has a line that says "I don't want to fall in love with you." And I wasn't there to fall in love. Just get a groove on. LOL

Anyway, although we were only looking for friends-with-benefits, we fell in love and we've been married 1 1/2 + years now. It may seem a little tacky, but we got married at the same bar, and the owner went all out for us. She decked that place out very nicely! Just for us!! It was very heartwarming! And as another song memory, I sang "Time In A Bottle" to her as the first karaoke singer of the night

I am still so desperately in love with my wife; she's my reason for living!!

I seriously doubt that Chris Isaak will ever read this, but thank you!!!!

I honestly wonder that if I had paid more attention to her than the songbook if things would have worked out the same way.
